Just down the road from Simon’s Rock and only 2 miles from the Big Y or the center of downtown Great Barrington, a swim at Lake Mansfield—with its beach and lifeguard—is just 5 minutes away. It’s also a mere 5 miles to both Butternut and Catamount ski areas, plus the Appalachian Trail, and 15 miles to the music and cultural events of Tanglewood to the north. This is truly a perfect four-season getaway!

Gas heat ensures that you’ll stay toasty warm during the colder months, while the stone and wood floors, along with central air, keep the main and second floors cool in summer. The bedroom in the high tower has its own split unit for heating and cooling. A full-size washer and dryer are conveniently located in a nice laundry/utility room. There are plenty of books to keep you entertained, along with dozens of cookbooks filled with recipes to try. Out back, you'll discover a large patio with a table, chairs, and a Weber gas grill, perfect for enjoying summer meals during your vacation rental.

While we do want to accommodate weekend rentals when possible, for 2- and 3-day weekend booking requests, we typically wait to confirm these stays until no further out than 2-3 weeks before arrival. The Great Barrington Castle was purposefully designed for weekly, monthly, and longer-term rentals among Berkshire accommodations. While we do want to accommodate weekend rentals when possible, for 2- and 3-day weekend booking requests, we typically wait to confirm these stays until no further out than 2-3 weeks before arrival. It's important to note that for vacation rentals of less than 31 days, Massachusetts imposes a room occupancy excise tax of 5.7%, and Great Barrington adds another 6%, resulting in a total tax of 11.7%. Both AirBnb and VRBO collect this tax for short stays. The bright side is that if you stay for 31 days or more, there’s no tax, allowing you to save that 11.7%! Additionally, we offer a 5% discount for stays of a week or more, and out of season, there’s a 10% discount available for monthly stays.
